This committee's purpose is to instill in our youth, the love of gardening and the respect and protection of the environment. We work with elementary school children in our community and for this Garden Club year we will partner with Jackson and McDonald Elementary School. As Garden Club volunteers, our duties are many and varied.
We procure, propagate & provide plants so each child receives a plant to grow and show for the strawberry festival. We instruct them on plant care. Under our tutelage select students also assemble dish gardens ,fairy gardens & terrariums. After the festival these plants becomes the child's. We provide guidance for pollinator gardening at both schools and give instruction of the complete metamorphosis of the butterfly and the incomplete metamorphosis of the dragonfly.
We do a winter holiday themed floral design that each child creates to take home for winter break. We instruct, assist and support hydroponic, aquaponic and traditional gardening at McDonald Elementary School. Our organization is always looking for volunteers for these worthwhile rewarding endeavors.
